The RuralGPNetwork is an email-based forum aimed at GPs and GP Trainees who are interested in rural and remote practice. It has been set up as a UK group, but rural GPs from anywhere in the world are invited to join. Over 150 GPs are now signed up.
The service is operated as a Google Group – free to join and use, and you can opt-out at any point. It’s also easy to divert emails to another mailbox, as all emails are flagged [ruralgp]. Its use ranges from several emails in one day, to none for a week. However, as a quick, easy and accessible method of contacting other like-minded GPs, it seems to work well.
Is this the same as the Yahoo Group?
Until April 2010, a Yahoo Group existed for the above purpose, run by Gordon Baird. However, in order to simplify the networks available for RuralGPs, the Yahoo Group has become part of the RuralGPNetwork.
